The WA Government has made changes to its migration program to support skilled workers looking to migrate to Western Australia including increasing occupations eligible for skilled migration in WA by around 60 per cent. New occupations have been added to the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List Schedule 1 (WASMOL Schedule 1) and the Western Australian Skilled Migration Occupation List Schedule 2 (WASMOL Schedule 2).   The WA Government has made changes to the requirements for new applicants as of 1 July 2022, including:

– 491 Applicants would not need a job contract.

– 190 Applicants would only need a 6 months contract.

– The nomination fee of $200 has also been waived.

– Removing the requirement to demonstrate sufficient funds for WA State nomination.

– Reducing the English requirements for applicants at the Manager and Professional occupation level to the “competent” level of English.

– Changing the document requirements for the WASMOL Schedule 1&2 and the Graduate Occupation lists based on the visa the applicant is being nominated for. 

– Expanding the WA State Nominated Combined Occupation List that lists the occupations available for WA State nomination through the General stream.

Requirements:

1) The requirements  for applicants for the General stream has been updated.

This includes the following:

• meet the Department of Home Affairs criteria for the intended visa subclass;
• meet the minimum English requirements for your occupation; and
• have a 12-month full-time employment contract in Western Australia in the nominated (or closely related) occupation.
• live in Australia

2) The existing requirements for the General stream will apply to applicants with an occupation on the WASMOL Schedule 1.

3) The Graduate stream requirements remain unchanged.
