Investor Visa (Subclass 891)

This visa is a permanent residence business visa that eligible Investor (Provisional) (Subclass 162) visa holders can apply for. This visa allows you to manage your business and investment activities in Australia.

What are the requirements for the 891 Visa?

You might be eligible for this visa if:

  • you are the primary holder of an Investor (Provisional) (subclass 162) visa
  • you lived in Australia for a total of at least two years in the past of the four years immediately before you apply, while holding an Investor (Provisional) visa (subclass 162)
  • you and all your family members meet health and character requirements
  • you meet business requirements.
  • Your family might be eligible for this visa if you are the primary holder of an Investor (Provisional) visa (subclass 162).

What are the benefits of the 890 visa?

This is a permanent residence visa. It lets you and any family members who have also been granted this visa:

  • stay in Australia indefinitely
  • work and study in Australia
  • enrol in Medicare, Australia’s scheme for health-related care and expenses
  • apply for Australian citizenship (if you are eligible)
  • sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence
  • travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted (after that time, you will need a resident return visa or another visa to return to Australia).

What are the costs associated with applying for the 891 visa?

  • Department of Home Affairs (DHA) Visa Application fees – $ 2810 (for primary applicant), $1405 (for each secondary applicant over 18), $705 (for each secondary applicant under 18)
