The Victorian Skilled Visa Nomination 2020-21

The Victorian 2020-2021 Skilled Visa Nomination Program (Subclasses 190 & 491) will resume from Jan 5, 2021. The main highlights of the Skilled Visa Program are:

  • The program is expected to focus on the economic recovery and health response critical to the state’s pandemic recovery.  
  • Any Registration of Interest (ROI) submitted during the interim program will be considered. 
  • International student graduates and PhD applicants that meet eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply. 
  • Applicants with a track record in “commercializing innovative ideas and bringing them to market” will also be highly regarded. 
  • Onshore Victorian applicants will be given preference.

Eligibility criteria for the  190 visa and 491 visa:

Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
Entitlements Permanent residence.
Requirements You must:

  • be currently living in Victoria
  • be currently employed (and have worked in Victoria for a minimum of 6 months) using skills in health or medical research that support Victoria’s economic recovery and health response
  • have obtained a suitable skills assessment for your occupation
  • have not yet turned age 45
  • have achieved the required points test score
  • must demonstrate at least a competent English level
  • meet all other visa nomination eligibility requirements.
Conditions Visa holders must live in Victoria for at least two years.
How to apply You need to:

  • Make or update an Expression of Interest through Skill Select
  • Submit a Registration of Interest for Victorian State Visa Nomination
  • If selected to apply for assessment and visa nomination by Victoria.
Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 491)
Entitlements Provisional 5 year visa
Requirements You must:

  • be currently living in regional Victoria
  • be currently (and must have worked in regional Victoria for a minimum of 6 months) employed using skills in health or medical research that support Victoria’s economic recovery and health response
  • have obtained a suitable skills assessment for your nominated occupation
  • have not yet turned age 45
  • have achieved the required points test score
  • must demonstrate at least a competent English level
  • meet all other visa nomination eligibility requirements
Conditions Visa holders must live, work and study in a designated regional area in Victoria.
How to apply You need to:

  • Make or update an Expression of Interest through SkillSelect
  • Submit a Registration of Interest for Victorian State Visa Nomination
  • If selected to apply for assessment and visa nomination by Victoria
