485 Visa Extension

485 Visa – Extended post-study work rights 

From 1st July 23, extended post-study work rights for international students graduating with degrees linked to workforce shortages in Australia. 

Under the Temporary Graduate Work visa (subclass 485), the post-study ‘stay and work’ period for eligible graduates of listed qualifications will increase, as follows:  

  •     Four years for Bachelor degree graduates, up from two years previously. 
  •     Five years for Master’s degree graduates, up from three years previously. 
  •     Six years for doctoral graduates, up from four years previously. 

Eligibility: 

  •   The applicant should meet all the eligibility criteria for the Post-Study Work stream of the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485), and  
  • The applicant’s application is on the list of eligible qualifications @ https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2023L00916/ 

In addition, one of the following must also apply:  

  •  The applicant has a 485 visa on 1 Jul 23 
  •  The applicant has lodged a 485 visa before or after 1 Jul 23
