Accredited Sponsorship

An accredited sponsor receives priority when DHA process Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) or Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494) (SESR) application. Applications lodged by Accredited Sponsors receive preferential treatment by the immigration department resulting in faster turn-around times. 

What are the requirements for Sponsorship Accreditation?

In order to qualify for Accredited Status, a sponsor must meet all the requirements for Standard Business Sponsorship and meet all of the following additional characteristics of one of the four categories:

Category 1: Commonwealth, state and territory government agencies

  • Be an Australian government (Commonwealth, state or territory) department or agency.
  • The workforce must comprise at least 75% of Australian workers.

Category 2: Australian Trusted Traders

Australian Trusted Trader accreditation provides Australian importing and exporting businesses with the opportunity to earn free accreditation and benefit from streamlined customs processes.   • The workforce must comprise at least 75% of Australian workers.
  • All 457 and 482 visa holders must be engaged under a written employment contract that includes at least the minimum employment entitlements as required under the National Employment Standards (unless their occupation is exempt from this requirement).
  • All Australian employees paid in accordance with an Enterprise Agreement or an internal salary table that reflects the current market salary rates for all occupations in their business.

Category 3:  Low volume usage (of the 457 and 482 programmes) and a high percentage of Australian workers (at least 85%)

  • Have Australian workers comprising at least 85% of their workforce in Australia.
  • Have an annual turnover of at least AUD four million annual turnovers for the last two years.
  • Are not a sole trader or partnership (some exceptions apply).
  • Have been a 457/482 sponsor for at least one year.
  • Have sponsored at least one primary 457/482 visa holder in the two years prior to the application for accreditation.
  • Have a non-approval rate of less than 3% for the last year.
  • Engage all 457/482 holders as employees under a written contract that meets National Employment Standards (where applicable).
  • Have all Australian employees paid in accordance with an Enterprise Agreement or an internal salary table that reflects the current market salary rates.
  • Have no adverse monitoring outcomes.

Category 4: High volume usage (of the 457 or 482 (SID) programmes) and medium percentage of Australian workers (at least 75%)

  • Have Australian workers comprising at least 75% of their workforce in Australia.
  • Have been a 457/482 sponsor for at least one year.
  • Have nominated at least 10 primary 457/482 visa holder in last two years.
  • Have an annual turnover of at least AUD four million annual turnovers for the last two years.
  • Are not a sole trader or partnership (some exceptions apply).
  • Have a non-approval rate of less than 3% for the last year.
  • Engage all 457/482 holders as employees under a written contract that meets National Employment Standards (where applicable).
  • Have all Australian employees paid in accordance with an Enterprise. Agreement or an internal salary table that reflects the current market salary rates.
  • Have no adverse monitoring outcomes.

Category 5: Major investment in Australia

  • Have made a major investment in Australia (of at least AUD50M) which has directly generated Australian employment.
  • Are not a sole trader or a partnership.
  • Have been a standard business sponsor for at least one year.
  • Have nominations approved for at least one primary Temporary Skill Shortage or subclass 457 visa holder in the last year.
  • Have a non-approval rate of less than 3% for the last year.
  • Have no adverse monitoring outcomes.
  • Have all employees paid in accordance with an Enterprise Agreement or an internal salary table that reflects the current market salary rates.
  • Engage all Temporary Skill Shortage and/or subclass 457 visa holders as employees under a written contract that meets National Employment Standards where they apply.

What are the costs associated with applying for sponsorship accreditation?

Our fixed fee, service packages are designed to give clients choice in terms of fees and the level of service. However, they do not cover the visa application fees and other costs involved in submitting a visa application. Fees can increase without notice, so the actual fees can vary at the time of application. We have outlined the applicable fees that are likely to be incurred for the 482 Visa (SID Visa) in Australian Dollars.

  • 482 Visa sponsorship application fee – $420
