What are the main requirements to sponsor a worker?

The employer needs to demonstrate that they are is unable to find a suitable person in Australia to fill the role through labour market testing.
For most employer-sponsored visas the occupation must be listed on the relevant Core Skills Occupation List. An employer may be able to negotiate a Labour Agreement for certain occupations that are not on the Core Skills Occupation List.
The employer must meet certain eligibility criteria to apply for sponsorship.
The employer must nominate the worker for a particular position.
The employee must have the skills, qualifications and experience for the nominated occupation.
The visa application has to be lodged.
